Hugo Ekitike’s performance helped Liverpool strengthen their position in the top four with a 5-2 win against West Ham.

Despite a solid showing from West Ham, Liverpool moved to equal points with fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League standings.

The first half saw Liverpool net three goals from corners. Ekitike scored first with a strike in the fifth minute from a Dominik Szoboszlai assist.

Virgil van Dijk then headed in another Szoboszlai corner in the 24th minute. Alexis Mac Allister added a superb goal two minutes before halftime, skillfully using the outside of his boot after Ekitike set up a corner from Mohamed Salah.

West Ham had chances throughout the first half and managed to score in the second half, with Tomas Soucek sliding in to meet a cross from El Hadji Malick Diouf.

As Liverpool seemed vulnerable, Cody Gakpo’s shot deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka into the goal in the 70th minute after he received a pass from Ekitike.

Valentin Castellanos headed in a corner from Jarrod Bowen to make it 4-2. Crysencio Summerville nearly made it more tense for Liverpool, but Axel Disasi unintentionally scored an own goal from a Jeremie Frimpong cross in the 82nd minute, concluding the match.
