Joao Klauss was a key player for the Los Angeles Galaxy, scoring two goals in the first 13 minutes of their 3-0 win against Charlotte FC on Saturday in Carson, California.

Lucas Sanabria also got an early goal for the Galaxy (1-0-1, 4 points), who have conceded only one goal in their first two MLS matches. Including two games in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, they have allowed a total of two goals.

Goalkeeper Novak Micovic made one save for Los Angeles, which is working to integrate Jakob Glesnes, the 2022 MLS Defender of the Year, into their defense after acquiring him from the Philadelphia Union this offseason.

Kristijan Kahlina made eight saves for Charlotte FC (0-1-1, 1 point), who have managed to score only one goal in their first two regular-season matches. Starting their season on the road, Charlotte will now play five consecutive home games.

Idan Toklomati, who led Charlotte FC with 11 goals last season, has not yet had a shot on target this season.

Sanabria opened the scoring for the Galaxy in the eighth minute, finishing a rebound off the left post after a long-range shot from Gabriel Pec.

Just three minutes later, Pec assisted Klauss, who scored from a centering pass to make it 2-0.

Klauss scored again in the 13th minute after taking advantage of a turnover from Charlotte, driving to the top of the penalty area to score past Kahlina.

After scoring 25 goals in three seasons with St. Louis City, Klauss has already netted three goals in two games for the Galaxy following his January trade.

Last season, Los Angeles struggled, securing their first win only in their 17th match and finishing with a goal differential of minus-20, one of the worst in the Western Conference.

Klauss played 63 minutes in this match after previously playing 90 minutes in a game against Sporting SM of Panama and 88 minutes in their MLS opener against New York City FC.
