New York Knicks guard Mikal Bridges may see more action after his strong performance in Sunday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Before this game, Bridges had been playing a smaller role. In February, he averaged 11.8 shots per game, down from 13.2 in January and 13.1 in December. Knicks head coach Mike Brown also aimed to give guard Landry Shamet, who has a shooting percentage of 42.9 from three-point range this season, more chances to score.

Bridges, however, took the changes in stride.

“It’s for everybody — me as well,” he said after a 109-94 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday (via Stefan Bondy of the New York Post). “You’ve just got to sacrifice, find your moments and play the right way.”

He discovered that moment in the matchup against the Spurs, who had a winning streak of 11 games.

Mikal Bridges shines against the Spurs

In a 114-89 victory over the Spurs, Bridges scored 25 points, shooting 10-of-17 from the field and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. He also had five rebounds and five steals. This accomplishment puts him in a select group of Knicks, including Jalen Brunson, former guard Stephon Marbury, and former forward Latrell Sprewell, as the only players in franchise history to achieve 25 or more points, five or more rebounds, five or more steals, and five or more three-pointers in a single regular-season game.
