The 2026 MLS All-Star Game will take place on July 29 in Charlotte, featuring a matchup between stars from MLS and Liga MX, as announced on Monday.
This marks the third consecutive year and the fifth time overall that players from these competing North American leagues will meet in this format.
The game is scheduled at Bank of America Stadium just 10 days after the championship of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The 26-member MLS All-Star team will consist of 11 players voted by fans, 13 selected by the All-Star head coach, and 2 chosen by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
MLS executive vice president Camilo Durana stated, “The 2026 MLS All-Star Game presented by Chime will feature a can’t-miss rematch between the best of MLS and LIGA MX. With the energy from a historic World Cup on home soil, we are excited to showcase our All-Stars and deliver a great event for fans in Charlotte and viewers worldwide on Apple TV.”
The selection details for the 26-man Liga MX roster will be shared at a later date.
Francisco Iturbide, Liga MX director of operations, competitions, and development, expressed enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We are excited that LIGA BBVA MX will once again be part of the MLS All-Star Game for the 2026 edition. This event highlights our collaboration with MLS and offers a chance to demonstrate the quality and competitiveness of our players. We are sure it will be an excellent week for fans across all three countries.”
MLS has triumphed in three of the four past All-Star matches against Liga MX, including a 3-1 win last year in Austin, Texas.
Additionally, the All-Star festivities will feature the 2026 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on July 28 at Truist Field in Charlotte.
