Liverpool topped the spending chart in the summer 2025 transfer window, adding players like Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and Florian Wirtz to strengthen their attack, along with two new fullbacks.
As the summer 2026 transfer window approaches, Liverpool still has urgent needs in the attack. Mohamed Salah is likely to leave, as his performance has declined, making him less effective in leading the team.
Cody Gakpo may also lose his starting position due to his lack of impact. The club feels the absence of Luis Diaz, who is performing exceptionally well at Bayern Munich this season.
To enhance their squad in 2026, Liverpool is looking for new wingers. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, they have targeted Michael Olise from Bayern and Yann Diomande from RB Leipzig as their top choices.
Plettenbergmentions that Olise is likely an unattainable goal, as he is not interested in leaving Bayern, and the club has no intention of selling him, especially with his impressive 10 goals and 16 assists so far this season.
Diomande is viewed as a more feasible option, although he won’t come cheap. RB Leipzig recognizes his talent, and he has a price tag of €100 million, should they decide to sell.
Olise would be an ideal replacement for Salah on the right flank, bringing scoring and playmaking abilities. Diomande can also contribute in similar ways, but he offers more explosiveness and versatility, making him suitable to play on either wing.
