Everton achieved a close win against Newcastle United over the weekend, with Thierno Barry scoring his sixth goal of the season.
The striker’s goal contributed to a 3-2 victory, helping Everton reach 40 points quicker than they have since 2017.
Barry’s goal also ended a trend for the club that had lasted over two years. He became the first substitute to score a Premier League winner for Everton since Idrissa Gana Gueye did so in November 2023.
In that earlier match, Gueye came off the bench and netted an 86th-minute winner against Crystal Palace after replacing Amadou Onana.
