During the press conference on Tuesday, U.S. women’s national team coach Emma Hayes shared updates on player injuries ahead of the SheBelieves Cup match against Canada on Wednesday. She confirmed that Trinity Rodman is “fine and training,” while Lilly Reale has a foot injury and has left the team camp.
Rodman, a forward for the Washington Spirit, was cleared to train after a concerning incident during the match against Argentina, where she collided with another player. Initially, it raised worries due to a previous back injury that kept her out for most of 2025. Rodman received treatment but walked off the field herself and did not return for the last minutes of the game. After the match, Hayes noted she had not yet received an update on Rodman’s condition.
In another update, Hayes mentioned that Reale, a defender, had to leave the U.S. camp due to a foot injury she sustained during the match against Argentina. Reale was substituted in the 62nd minute and will not be replaced according to tournament rules, which state no substitutions are allowed after the competition has begun.
Reale is the third defender to exit the SheBelieves Cup squad this year. Kate Wiesner from the Spirit left due to a “minor calf issue,” which led to Avery Patterson from Houston Dash taking her place. Additionally, Jordyn Bugg from Seattle Reign departed due to a “hamstring issue,” with Emily Sams from Angel City replacing her. Both Wiesner and Bugg were eligible for replacements since the competition had not yet started.
The U.S. team is set to face Canada, a long-standing rival, on March 4 at 6:45 PM ET at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio. Canada began their SheBelieves Cup campaign with a strong 4-1 victory over Colombia, ending a five-month scoring drought and a winless streak of five games.
