• Barcelona‘s comeback against Atletico Madrid fell short.

  • Despite winning 3-0, they exited the tournament on aggregate.

  • Atletico had a 4-0 lead from the first leg.

Atletico Madrid advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey, even after losing 3-0 in the second leg to Barcelona, who could not complete the comeback.

Atletico held a significant 4-0 lead from the first match. Although Marc Bernal scored twice and Raphinha added a penalty to give Barcelona hope, it was not enough.

Barcelona started strong, with Fermin Lopez hitting the crossbar just over a minute into the game as they sought an early goal.

Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal missed several chances before Yamal assisted Bernal’s goal in the 29th minute.

Lookman had Atletico’s best chance of the half but missed, and shortly after, a foul led to Raphinha converting a penalty just before halftime.

Barcelona maintained pressure, and in the 72nd minute, another corner setup allowed Bernal to score again.

Before finishing, Bernal missed a chance for a hat-trick, and Yamal shot wide, but Atletico held on to secure their spot in the final.
