Bruno Fernandes is on the verge of matching one of David Beckham’s longstanding assist records at Manchester United as the Premier League season nears its end.

The Portuguese midfielder has once again been a key playmaker for United this season.

He is now just one assist away from matching the milestone set by Beckham during the club’s successful era under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Bruno Fernandes is closing in on David Beckham’s assist record

TNT Sports has pointed out that Fernandes is now close to Beckham’s assist record at Manchester United.

“Bruno Fernandes now has 14 Premier League assists this season. The only Man United player with more in a single campaign is David Beckham – 15 in 1999/00.”

Beckham’s record has remained unbeaten for over two decades, highlighting its difficulty to surpass.

Fernandes has already matched several club creative records during his time at Old Trafford and is now just one assist away from equalling Beckham’s total.

This sets him up well to challenge a milestone that has persisted across different Manchester United eras.

Bruno Fernandes has nine games left to break David Beckham’s record

Fernandes also has a solid chance to surpass Beckham since Manchester United has nine Premier League matches left this season.

This gives the United captain effectively nine opportunities to earn the two assists necessary to set a new club record.

Considering Fernandes’ role as the team’s main creator and set-piece specialist, it is likely he will reach this mark before the season concludes.

He has already had several matches with multiple assists this season, so the record could potentially fall in one game.
