Jermaine Pennant believes Liverpool should consider selling Mohamed Salah this summer and use the revenue to pursue Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise.

Salah has just over a year remaining on his contract, and there is ongoing speculation about a move to the Saudi Pro League ahead of the 2026 transfer window.

While Salah has recently shown good form, scoring two goals against Wolves in consecutive matches, Pennant would accept an offer of £100 million for him.

On a recent episode of his Wildcards podcast with Jermaine Jenas, Pennant explained his reasoning for wanting Liverpool to part ways with Salah. He suggested the club should target PSG’s Bradley Barcola or Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise as potential replacements.

Pennant stated: “If Saudi came in with £75 million or £100 million for Salah, I would accept that. With that money, I would look to bring in Olise or Barcola.”

When asked if this might be unfair to Salah given his recent performance, Pennant remained firm in his stance.

He said: “He scored two in two against Wolves… but yes, still at 33 years old, yes.”

Salah could also move to MLS, although it seems unlikely any team in that league could afford such a high transfer fee, especially considering Heung-min Son’s record move to LAFC was $26.5 million.

It’s worth noting that Pennant’s view on selling Salah depends on whether Liverpool’s coach, Arne Slot, sees him as essential for the 2026-27 season, as Salah’s contract with Liverpool lasts until summer 2027.
