Returning to the court just 10 months after an Achilles injury was a significant achievement for Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum. His performance on Friday night added to that accomplishment.
Tatum made his comeback 298 days after his injury, leading Boston to a 120-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. In this game, he scored 15 points in 27 minutes, shooting 6-of-16 from the field and 3-of-8 from behind the arc. Additionally, he made his presence felt with 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Tatum Makes Celtics History with His Performance
Since Friday was his season debut for 2025-26, Tatum became the first Celtics player since Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett (on November 2, 2007) to achieve at least 15 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a season opener.
