West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein has reached out to football star Cristiano Ronaldo for help after being stuck in India for over five days. The West Indies played their last T20 World Cup match against India on March 1 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where they lost by five wickets. Due to ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, their travel plans have been disrupted, leaving them unable to return home.
Feeling frustrated, Hosein jokingly asked Ronaldo on social media to send his private jet for their rescue.
“At this point, I’m better off asking Cristiano [Ronaldo] to send the [jet] and come rescue me, yes,” Hosein posted on X (formerly Twitter).
These comments follow rumors that Ronaldo may have used his private jet to travel to Spain, amid his commitments in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr. Reports suggest he has a hamstring injury, with photos of him training shared on March 3.
Hosein is looking forward to a few days of rest back in the Caribbean before returning to India to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Darren Sammy expresses his concerns on X
Former West Indies captain and coach Darren Sammy has also voiced his frustration on X about being stranded in India. He mentioned that it has been six days since their T20 World Cup campaign ended and expressed hope for a quick departure as they approach a week of being unable to leave.
