Alexis Manyoma scored the winning goal in the 76th minute with an assist from Darren Yapi, leading the Colorado Rapids to a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night in Commerce City, Colorado.
Yapi also added a goal, assisted by Paxten Aaronson and Hamzat Ojediran. Rafael Navarro scored two late goals for Colorado (2-1-0, 6 points), marking their second consecutive win.
Goalkeeper Nico Hansen made four saves for the Rapids, stepping in for regular starter Zack Steffen, who was sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
Joao Klauss scored his fourth goal of the season with an assist from Gabriel Pec for the Galaxy (1-1-1, 4 points).
Yapi opened the scoring for the Rapids in the 23rd minute with a left-footed shot inside the far post after a skillful step-over move.
In the 32nd minute, Hansen made a right-sided save against Pec’s shot from 18 yards out.
Late in the first half, Hansen secured another save after absorbing contact while following a pass from Marco Reus to Pec, who received a yellow card for the tackle.
Los Angeles pressured Hansen at the start of the second half. Though Hansen blocked two shots in the 54th minute, Klauss equalized in the 56th minute with a header from a Pec pass.
Pec was sent off with a second yellow card in the 60th minute after a foul on Navarro, leaving the Galaxy a man short for the final 30 minutes.
Yapi assisted Manyoma for his first MLS goal just outside the 6-yard box, putting Colorado back in the lead.
Navarro added a third goal in the 85th minute, tapping in a deflected shot from Keegan Rosenberry.
In the 89th minute, Navarro scored again with a powerful left-footed shot into the top-left corner.
Colorado dominated with over 61% possession, winning comfortably despite LA holding a 15-11 advantage in shots.
