The Golden State Warriors attempted a comeback on Saturday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder after trailing by 14 points. Although they closed the gap, they never took the lead. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder responded effectively each time the Warriors got closer.
Oklahoma City maintained control in the final quarter, securing a 104-97 win. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 27 points, though his shooting was 6-for-15. His performance at the free-throw line stood out, making 14 of 15 attempts.
Steve Kerr raises NBA rule concern after SGA showing
This performance caught the attention of Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who spoke about how the league’s rules seem to favor offensive players.
Kerr recognized Gilgeous-Alexander’s ability to draw contact for free throws but indicated that the current rules limit defenders’ options against skilled guards.
“He’s incredibly clever and knows how to draw contact, all within the rules,” Kerr said.
“Allowing offensive players to push off creates challenges for defenders because if you try to defend, they can take advantage.”
