Sir Alex Ferguson will have several horses running at the Cheltenham Festival this week.

However, one of the most valuable horses linked to the former Manchester United manager will not compete.

Caldwell Potter, who was purchased for £640,000 at the Caldwell Construction sale in February 2024, has been sidelined for the season.

The seven-year-old was expected to continue his strong performance but has faced a setback.

Caldwell Potter Missing Cheltenham Festival

The acquisition of Caldwell Potter made him one of the most expensive horses owned by Sir Alex Ferguson.

He finished last season on a high note, winning the Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and also taking victory in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree.

However, trainer Paul Nicholls announced in October that Caldwell Potter sustained a small injury during a gallop at Newbury, leading to his absence for the rest of the season.
