Manchester United is interested in Inter Milan’s young talent, Francesco Pio Esposito, who has impressed in Serie A this season.

Last summer, United updated their attacking lineup by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.

However, changes may continue next summer, especially with Joshua Zirkzee looking to leave Old Trafford to revive his career.

With Zirkzee’s potential exit, the expected return to Europe could encourage INEOS to strengthen their squad, particularly in attack.

Currently, there aren’t any specific strikers linked to the Premier League club, but inquiries have reportedly started at Carrington.

As per the Daily Briefing, United has reached out to Esposito’s camp to discuss a possible summer transfer.

Likewise, Arsenal is also showing strong interest in the young striker, who is being regarded as a future star of Italian football.

However, reports indicate that Inter Milan is reluctant to let him go, as they are keen on retaining their homegrown talent.

A closer look at Francesco Pio Esposito

Francesco Pio is the youngest of three brothers who developed in Inter’s youth system. The oldest, Salvatore, plays for Sampdoria, while Sebastiano, the middle sibling, is making waves at Cagliari.

Francesco Pio has always been viewed as the most talented among them. After a successful loan at Spezia in Serie B, he has made a strong impact in Serie A this season.

Despite limited playing time due to stars like Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in the squad, Esposito has taken full advantage of his chances.

Esposito’s Career Stats Appearances Goals Assists
Inter Milan 40 8 7
Spezia 79 22 3

A well-known Italian football manager praised him as ‘intelligent’ and ‘fantastic’ after his performance against Ajax in the Champions League earlier this season.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, Inter’s commitment to retaining Esposito suggests he may not be available any time soon. His physical style and ability to support teammates resemble Sesko’s, indicating United might benefit from seeking a striker with a different skill set—perhaps a versatile attacker who can adapt to various roles on the field.
