San Diego FC aims to keep their perfect start to the MLS season when they face FC Dallas on Saturday.

With a 3-0-0 record, San Diego FC leads the league due to a better goal differential. The team has scored eight goals and has not allowed any so far this season.

San Diego has balanced this strong performance with a busy schedule as they also participate in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The match against Dallas comes between two legs of San Diego’s knockout match with Mexican team Toluca, the second leg of which will be played on Wednesday.

In the first leg last Wednesday, San Diego FC secured a 3-2 win at home, even with two players, Marcus Ingvartsen and Manu Duah, receiving red cards.

Striker Lewis Morgan mentioned, “It was a challenge that we embraced… it showed our resolve. It was almost beneficial for us to demonstrate that side.”

Ingvartsen and Anders Dreyer are the top scorers for San Diego, each netting two goals in MLS matches.

FC Dallas holds a 1-1-1 record with 4 points and hasn’t scored since their opening match, a 3-2 win against Toronto FC. The team took 26 shots in their last two games but only managed seven on target.

Defender Sebastien Ibeagha shared on the FC Dallas Agenda podcast that there were positives from their recent 1-0 loss to Los Angeles FC, saying, “We showed that we can implement our tactics effectively.”

Ibeagha emphasized the need for discipline against San Diego, stating, “They’re a very dangerous team. If we are late to press, they will find the pass and capitalize on it.”

With seven out of their first nine matches at home, FC Dallas has a chance to improve their home record. Last season, only eight teams earned fewer points at home than Dallas, who ended with 22 points from a 6-8-3 record at home.

San Diego won both matches against Dallas in 2025, scoring a total of 8 goals while conceding only 2.
