Napoli has stated they plan to keep Rasmus Hojlund after his loan period ends.

If the team had qualified for this year’s Champions League, they would have needed to activate a £38 million buy clause for the on-loan Manchester United player.

Napoli to sign Hojlund permanently this summer

Club director Giovanni Manna reassured fans that Hojlund is on their agenda regardless of their Champions League qualification.

“There is no doubt. Rasmus will stay. We must buy him from MUFC if we qualify for the UCL, but he is part of our plans regardless,” Manna stated.

The Danish player left United last summer after scoring just four Premier League goals in 32 matches.

Following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for £73 million, INEOS began arrangements for Hojlund’s departure.

He was initially in talks with AC Milan, but after Romelu Lukaku’s injury, Napoli showed interest, and a deal was quickly reached.

Since returning to Italy, Hojlund has improved his performance. He played for Atalanta before moving to Manchester United in 2023.

In 35 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 13 goals and provided four assists.

However, Napoli is behind in the league standings, trailing both Milan teams and sitting 11 points from leaders Inter heading into matchweek 29.
