James Maddison has been plagued by injuries.

Tottenham Hotspur is likely to seek a new attacking midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they continue to face challenges with creativity this season.

Tottenham have Sevilla looking at their long-term target

The team’s creative struggles are largely due to James Maddison’s ongoing injury issues and Xavi Simons still adjusting to the Premier League. Simons has yet to show his best form since joining Tottenham.

While there have been moments of promise from him, they have not met the expectations held by the club.

This is why Tottenham has shown interest in established creators like Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Though those transfers did not materialize, Tottenham is now considering another English midfielder, Daichi Kamada, who has made 20 appearances this season. With his contract at Crystal Palace expiring soon, he has garnered attention, especially with uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

Since Kamada is available for a free transfer, Sevilla is reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him (h/t Fichajes).

Is Kamada a James Maddison replacement?

Sevilla is known for securing valuable free transfers, and they view Kamada as a player who can enhance their technical play and fit well into their tactical setup. He brings experience from various top European leagues and has the talent to create scoring opportunities.

This situation is also appealing to Tottenham, given concerns about Maddison’s long-term fitness. The club is actively searching for a capable player in the attacking midfield role who can have an immediate impact.

For the moment, Kamada remains with Crystal Palace as they aim for European qualification. However, Sevilla is likely preparing to pursue him further. If Tottenham is genuinely interested in the 29-year-old, they need to begin taking action as well.
