Atlanta United and D.C. United faced off on Saturday night, ending their match in a 0-0 draw.

Atlanta (1-3-1, 4 points) had recently secured its first win of the season with a 3-1 result against the Philadelphia Union, bringing its goal total to five over the last two games.

D.C. (2-2-1, 7 points) ended a two-game losing streak in its previous match and recorded its second clean sheet of the season, the first being a 1-0 win over the Union on February 21.

Both teams struggled to create chances, with Atlanta’s Lucas Hoyos and D.C.’s Sean Johnson not facing many threats. The most notable chance in the first half came from Cooper Sanchez, whose shot from just outside the box in the 13th minute was saved by Johnson.

D.C. nearly scored in the 61st minute due to a defensive lapse from Atlanta, but Hoyos managed to save Jackson Hopkins’ shot.

In the 83rd minute, Caden Clark had a chance to give D.C. the lead, but his shot hit the right post. Then, in the 87th minute, Brandon Servania’s long-range shot struck the crossbar.

This concluded the significant opportunities of the match as both teams left the field with one point each.

Atlanta dominated possession at 64.8% against D.C.’s 35.1% and outshot D.C. 9-4, but this was Atlanta’s third match without scoring.

Hoyos recorded one save, marking his first clean sheet in MLS, while Johnson saved both shots he faced from Atlanta.
