Los Angeles FC maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a scoreless draw against Austin FC on Saturday, while also keeping their opponents from scoring.

Both goalkeepers had clean sheets, combining for three saves. LAFC’s Hugo Lloris made two saves, marking his fifth shutout of the season and going 450 minutes without conceding a goal. Austin’s Brad Stuver recorded one save, achieving his second clean sheet of the year and the 40th of his MLS career.

LAFC (4-0-1, 13 points) has outscored opponents 8-0, starting the season with the best record in team history. Austin FC (1-2-2, 5 points) goes into the first international break of the year on a three-game winless streak.

Los Angeles created the best scoring opportunities in the game, including two late chances. In the 85th minute, Mark Delgado struck a shot from outside the box that hit the crossbar. One minute later, LAFC’s Son Heung-Min made a run towards goal, but Austin defender Brendan Hines-Ike managed to take the ball just as Son was about to shoot.

In first-half stoppage time, Los Angeles forced Stuver into his only save of the match when Denis Bouanga aimed a shot at goal. Austin’s final attempt came four minutes into the second half when Myrto Uzuni tested Lloris with a high shot, which he managed to deflect. Lloris has successfully stopped all 16 shots he has faced this season.

LAFC played their third game in eight days and struggled, not registering a shot on target in the first half while being out-possessed 58%-42%, finishing with a significant pass difference (368-168). Meanwhile, Austin also failed to make any shots on target during a slow first half.
