Atlanta United FC owner Arthur Blank has appointed Mauricio Culebro, a veteran of the Mexican Football Federation, as president of Atlanta United and the new NWSL franchise set to launch in 2028.

“Today is a great day as we welcome Mauricio to Atlanta and our group of businesses,” Blank stated through AMB Sports and Entertainment, which includes the Atlanta Falcons and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Blank noted that during the search process, Culebro’s extensive experience and vision for improving the clubs made him an ideal candidate for the roles.

Culebro has previously served as president of Tigres UANL and was the chief operating officer of the Mexican Football Federation.

Although new to MLS, Blank expressed confidence in Culebro’s abilities to help Atlanta United regain its competitive edge while also overseeing the launch of the NWSL club.

Culebro has also been involved in planning for Mexico’s role in hosting the upcoming World Cup this summer.

“It’s a privilege to join AMBSE’s successful leadership team and be part of such an established organization,” Culebro said. “I look forward to using my experience and dedication to serve Atlanta United and NWSL Atlanta 2028, collaborating with a great team to create projects that our community can be proud of.”
