The Colorado Rapids have signed defender Kosi Thompson from Toronto FC on Thursday. The deal involves up to $400,000 in general allocation money.

Toronto will receive $200,000 in 2026 GAM, with the potential for an additional $200,000 based on Thompson’s performance. Toronto will also keep a share of any future transfer or trade earnings.

“We are excited to welcome Kosi to the club,” said Fran Taylor, the Rapids’ sporting director. “He is a young defender with important MLS experience, bringing stability and versatility to our team. Kosi can influence the game defensively and offensively, making him a good fit for our style of play.”

Thompson, who is 23 years old and from Ontario, scored two goals and provided one assist in 113 appearances for Toronto from 2022 to 2026.

“We would like to thank Kosi for his contributions to our club,” stated Jason Hernandez, Toronto’s general manager. “As one of our homegrown talents, Kosi has dedicated many years to TFC, and we appreciate his efforts. We understand his desire for more playing time, which led to this decision. We wish him the best in this new chapter of his career; he will always have a place at TFC.”

Toronto will face the Rapids in their next match on April 4.
