In remarks shared by O Jogo, Felix emphasized that Portugal’s game plan stays consistent regardless of Ronaldo’s presence.
“We prepare for the games the same way. With him or without him, we play the same way. We don’t do anything differently,” Felix explained.
“If another player steps in as number 9, the manager will ask him to perform the same tasks,” he added.
This highlights a unified identity within the team. While Portugal benefits from star players, their system doesn’t hinge on any single individual.
The current squad also boasts depth in its attacking options. Coach Martinez has multiple players who can take on the central role, even though none match Ronaldo’s unique profile. Thus, while the player may change, the strategy remains the same.

Felix acknowledged that while Portugal’s plan does not shift, Ronaldo contributes significantly to the team’s threat level.
“The number 9 will try to fulfill his role, but with Cristiano, the chance of scoring is always higher,” Felix noted.
