Manchester United is planning significant changes this summer.
The club aims to reduce its wage expenses.
The squad’s wide players are under review.
As the summer transfer window approaches, important decisions are being made for the upcoming season.
One key decision involves Jadon Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund has officially expressed interest in re-signing Sancho on a free transfer when his contract with United ends in June, paving the way for a potential return to the German club.
Dortmund is considering bringing back the 26-year-old, who previously thrived there and became a notable attacking talent in Europe.
However, a return is complicated.
Sancho would need to accept a significant pay cut from his current salary of around £15 million per year, making finances a major hurdle in discussions.
Reports suggest that Sancho is open to this option.
Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken commented on the matter, stating, “We’re currently looking at a lot of players and analysing them closely. We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon as well.”
Despite his challenges in England, Dortmund believes that returning could help Sancho regain the form that once made him a top winger.
His time at United has been rocky since joining for £73 million in 2021, as he has not met expectations.
Loan spells have not stabilized his career either.
Following a brief return to Dortmund, he had an unsatisfactory time at Chelsea, and his current loan at Aston Villa has also not helped, with just one goal and three assists in 31 games, only 17 of which were starts.
For United, allowing Sancho to leave on a free transfer would mean a significant financial loss but would remove one of their top earners from the payroll.
With Dortmund openly pursuing a reunion, the final decision may rest with Jadon Sancho.
