Liverpool’s season has been a mix of highs and lows. They secured the 2024/25 title by a ten-point margin, raising hopes of another successful run in the 2025/26 season. However, the recent passing of Diogo Jota has deeply affected the team, leading to underwhelming performances from key players. Recently, they faced significant defeats against Manchester City in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals. Liverpool has also announced that Andy Robertson will leave the club this summer.
Liverpool Confirm Andy Robertson Departure
Robertson Leaves Anfield as a Legend
Andy Robertson’s contract expires this summer, and he has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool confirmed his departure on their website, stating:
“Liverpool FC can confirm Andy Robertson will end his Reds career at the conclusion of the current season. After nine successful years at Anfield, the Scotland captain will leave the club once his contract ends this summer. He will depart as a true Liverpool legend, having played a key role in the team’s achievements over his 373 appearances.”
Andy Robertson Leaves Liverpool a Legend
Robertson joined Anfield from Hull City in 2017 and has had tremendous success, winning two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, and two League Cups, along with the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Community Shield.
Earlier this season, teammate Kerkez highlighted how Robertson helped him adjust to life at Anfield. He said, “Really good. Before the game (on Saturday) he motivated me, encouraging me to play like I did last season. After the game, he congratulated me and told me to keep it up. We have a strong bond.”
“He’s a legend who has achieved so much. It’s important to have someone like him pushing me and vice versa. This is Liverpool, and we need that competition.”
