Manchester United is set to visit Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea as they aim to secure a spot in the top five of the league.

United’s recent defeat to Leeds United brought Aston Villa level on points at 55, but United remains in third place due to a better goal difference of +12 compared to Villa’s +5.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is in sixth place with 48 points and is looking to enter the Champions League spots, making this match crucial.

Before the match, Chelsea shared training photos, showing the team preparing for the game. A positive update for Chelsea is the return of Trevoh Chalobah, who had been injured. He was seen training again after an ankle injury sustained during the 3-0 Champions League defeat to PSG on March 17, 2026.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior confirmed last week that Chalobah was back on the training field as he recovers. However, his participation against United on Saturday is not guaranteed.

The only image of him in the training gallery shows him running alone, indicating that while his return to training is promising, it doesn’t mean he’s ready to play in the upcoming match.

On the other hand, United is dealing with its own challenges in defense. Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined due to a back injury, while Lisandro Martinez is also unavailable after being sent off against Leeds. United plans to appeal the red card decision.

Martinez was dismissed for hair-pulling against Dominic Calvert-Lewin, leading to a three-match ban for “violent conduct.” As a result, both teams will rely on their reserve centre-backs, with each side eager to earn three points.
