Robert Lewandowski appears set to remain at Barcelona as the club’s president expresses a strong desire to extend his contract. Joan Laporta has reportedly instructed the club to retain the 37-year-old Polish striker, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg’s social media post.
In a notable willingness to compromise, Lewandowski is prepared to accept a substantial pay cut and a restructured deal to continue playing in Catalonia for at least one more season. Despite interest from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Saudi Arabian clubs, the striker has made it clear that he wishes to compete at the highest level for another year.
This season, Lewandowski has featured in 40 matches for Barcelona, netting 17 goals and providing 3 assists. His market value is estimated at 8 million euros, with his current contract due to expire this summer.
