The Copa del Rey final was overshadowed by a significant scandal prior to the match, as police launched a major operation that resulted in the detention of dozens of supporters. The advance actions aimed to prevent potential violence and ensure safety during the event.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, law enforcement initiated inspections while fans were en route to the city. Interceptions occurred on the A-4 motorway near La Carlota and on various other routes frequented by the supporters.

During these searches, police uncovered a substantial cache of weapons, including knives, batons, chains, over a hundred steel rods, and multiple metal pipes. Additional items seized included brass knuckles, pepper spray, signal flares, helmets, and motorcycle gloves.

Authorities confirmed that approximately 160 individuals were identified and detained, most of whom are believed to have connections to supporter groups from both teams. Police stressed that the preemptive measures taken were crucial in avoiding what could have been serious confrontations.
