EFL clubs have reaffirmed their commitment to traditional refereeing methods, with no imminent changes anticipated. A recent meeting revealed that clubs unanimously rejected proposals for the introduction of video replays and a card system for head coaches to challenge refereeing decisions.
According to reports from The Athletic, the proposed system would have allowed head coaches to raise a special card to request a review of controversial decisions using the FVS video replay system. This system would require coaches to present the card to the fourth official to indicate their intent to challenge a call.
However, after careful consideration of the proposals, EFL clubs concluded that such innovations would likely slow down match play and disrupt the longstanding traditions of English football.
