Aiden McCarthy will remain with Kaizer Chiefs for an additional two seasons following a renewal of his contract. The young defender’s current agreement was set to expire in June, prompting the club to extend his tenure.
McCarthy has been a member of Amakhosi since 2022, having been promoted from the development side. Since joining the first team, he has established himself as a reliable defender, particularly during a season where the club faced significant injury challenges among its regular players.
Initially, Zitha Kwinika, Inacio Miguel, Given Msimango, and Rushwin Dortley were preferred in defense, but injuries led to McCarthy stepping up. He has forged effective partnerships with goalkeepers Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma throughout the season.
So far this season, McCarthy has made 25 appearances across all competitions and has netted two goals.
