Tottenham Faces Relegation Threat as Season Takes a Turn

Just ten months ago, Tottenham fans were celebrating their club’s historic Europa League triumph. Thousands lined the streets to welcome the players after the Lilywhites defeated Manchester United in the final in Bilbao. That remarkable achievement also meant the North Londoners had ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy, while securing Champions League football despite finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Fast forward to this season, and Spurs are now battling for survival in the Premier League. The Lilywhites are struggling to produce positive results and have already gone through three managerial changes. With the club winless in their last 14 league matches, there is a real possibility that the North Londoners could find themselves in the second division in the coming weeks.

The responsibility now rests on Roberto de Zerbi, who was appointed by the Lilywhites earlier this month. The Italian tactician has been tasked with stabilising a sinking ship at N17 and hoping he can turn the club’s fortunes around in the Premier League. Spurs have been winless in the league since the turn of the year, with their last victory coming against Crystal Palace in December. As a result, De Zerbi must ensure the North Londoners return to winning ways quickly, beginning with the clash against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium.

Tottenham Faces Judgement Day in the Premier League

Tottenham’s survival hopes are beginning to fade following their heartbreaking 2-2 draw against Brighton. The Lilywhites now sit two points adrift of safety with five matches remaining. There is a strong chance that the North Londoners could be relegated unless Roberto de Zerbi instils a winning mentality at N17 and helps the players rediscover their best form in the coming weeks.

Roy Keane, however, remains convinced that Spurs will avoid relegation from the Premier League and will find a way to secure positive results during the business-end of the season. Speaking on The Overlap, Keane said,

“Tottenham will 100% stay in the Premier League. Get all your money on it, just put all your money on Spurs staying up.”
