Tottenham Prepares for Crucial Clash Against Aston Villa at Villa Park

Tottenham Hotspur’s battle for Premier League survival intensifies on Sunday as they prepare to face Aston Villa at Villa Park.

After securing their first league victory of the year against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, thanks to Joao Palhinha’s late goal, Tottenham remains in a precarious position. Despite the win, which brought hope to the North London team, West Ham United’s victory against Everton leaves them two points adrift of safety with only four matches left in the season.

Every match holds significant importance for Tottenham, who can no longer afford to slip up. This encounter marks the third meeting between Spurs and Aston Villa this season, with their previous two matches both ending in losses for Tottenham. Those games were played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in both the league and the FA Cup, where Aston Villa emerged victorious.

Here’s the predicted Tottenham lineup for their upcoming encounter with Aston Villa.

Goalkeeper: Antonin Kinsky

Antonin Kinsky made a crucial stoppage-time save against Wolves, denying Joao Gomes’ free-kick and helping secure Tottenham’s first league win under manager Roberto De Zerbi. Regardless of Guglielmo Vicario’s fitness, Kinsky is expected to retain his position in goal for the upcoming match.

Defence: Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven, Djed Spence

The Tottenham back line performed commendably throughout the match against Wolves, contributing to a rare clean sheet. Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven effectively neutralized Stuart Armstrong while managing Tolu Arokodare’s physical style of play.

Pedro Porro and Djed Spence are likely to remain as the full-backs. Even if Destiny Udogie is fit again, De Zerbi may opt to start Spence at left-back.

Midfield: Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Conor Gallagher

Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma have established a solid foundation at the heart of Tottenham’s midfield in recent matches. It is unlikely that De Zerbi will disrupt their developing partnership, which should continue to yield positive results.

Conor Gallagher is expected to play a free role again, but he will need to take on more responsibility for creating chances in the final third given Xavi Simons’ devastating ACL injury. De Zerbi will be looking for improved performance from Gallagher against Villa.

Palhinha, who scored the winner against Wolves, aims to make another significant contribution from the bench in the Midlands. Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall could also see action in the second half.

Attack: Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani

With the loss of Simons to an ACL injury, Tottenham faces further challenges as reports indicate that Dominic Solanke may miss the remainder of the season due to a grade-2 hamstring injury suffered against Wolves. This situation leaves De Zerbi in need of solutions to fill these vacancies in his starting lineup.

The injuries to Solanke and Simons open opportunities for Richarlison and Mathys Tel to step up in the starting eleven. Randal Kolo Muani, who was previously rumored to have an injury, is fit and should retain his position on the right flank.
