Austin FC Secures 2-0 Victory Over St. Louis City

Christian Ramirez and Myrto Uzuni found the net within a span of 12 minutes in the second half, while goalkeeper Brad Stuver made four saves, leading Austin FC to a 2-0 win against struggling St. Louis City on Sunday.

The Verde (3-4-4, 13 points) achieved back-to-back victories with identical scores, successfully reversing a season marred by a seven-match winless streak.

St. Louis City (1-6-3, 6 points) now faces a five-match winless run, having lost three times during this period.

Ramirez opened the scoring in the 69th minute, breaking the deadlock. The play started from a corner kick, which was initially cleared but then reclaimed by Uzuni, who sent the ball back into the box for Dani Pereira. Pereira deftly chipped a pass toward the far post, allowing Ramirez to leap and head the ball into the net past St. Louis goalkeeper Roman Burki, giving Austin a 1-0 lead.

Austin extended their lead in the 81st minute when Uzuni struck with a left-footed shot. Jon Gallagher chased the ball near the end line and passed it to Ramirez, who then set up Uzuni at the center of the box for a shot into the lower left corner.

The match also saw the return of midfielder Owen Wolff, who came on in the 82nd minute after missing Austin’s first 10 games of the season.

Austin had a strong early scoring chance, but Gallagher’s header from deep in the box, which had a 24% goal expectancy, sailed over the crossbar. St. Louis’s Marcel Hartel responded with a shot on goal three minutes later, which Stuver managed to parry away.

Uzuni nearly scored in the 22nd minute, heading a free kick toward the net, but Burki made a remarkable save. Stuver continued to shine, diving to deny a shot from Simon Becher in the 26th minute.
