Senne Lammens Recognized as Manchester United‘s Signing of the Season

Senne Lammens has established himself as a key figure at Manchester United since his arrival at the club last summer.

The goalkeeper, who joined United from Royal Antwerp, has made 31 appearances for the club since his arrival, with the majority of these coming in the Premier League.

In a season where the club has excelled, qualifying for next season’s Champions League, the shot-stopper has been cited as a key part of the campaign’s success.

Other players have arguably overshadowed the goalkeeper, though, including Bruno Fernandes, who was recently awarded the Footballer of the Year title by the Football Writers’ Association.

Now, though, the goalkeeper has been recognised with former Manchester United player Owen Hargreaves naming him as the club’s signing of the season.

Hargreaves, who made 27 appearances for the Red Devils between 2007 and 2011, stated: “I’ll tell you who’s probably been the best signing of all of them: Senne Lammens,” when speaking to TNT Sports.

Continuing, the former United midfielder explained: “What did he cost? Not a lot so he’s been value for money.

“I think United looked at it and thought, ‘what gets us up the table and gets us into the Champions League places?’ It’s not a new midfield player or a goalkeeper, it’s goals.

“So they added [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo, guys with Premier League experience who can get you 20-odd goals and United are third right now, so I think that’s been proven correct.

“But I do think if they hadn’t have sorted the goalkeeper out, they wouldn’t be in the top-four.”

Earlier this season, CentreDevils exclusively revealed that those behind the scenes were amazed by Lammens and his hard work.

Now, with praise coming the goalkeeper’s way, it is clear to see that the hard work put in behind the scenes is reflected on the field.
