Real Madrid Midfielders Valverde and Tchouaméni Involved in Training Altercation
Tensions within the Real Madrid squad escalated this week following a violent altercation between midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. The incident has divided the team and intensified scrutiny on the club’s leadership as the season reaches its climax.
The conflict reportedly started days earlier, triggered by a heavy challenge from Tchouaméni on Valverde during a training session on Wednesday, May 6. The situation boiled over on Thursday, May 7, at the Valdebebas training facility.
During the encounter, Valverde allegedly refused to shake Tchouaméni’s hand and accused him of leaking details about their earlier dispute to the media. As aggressive tackles and heated exchanges continued during drills, the confrontation escalated into the dressing room. Reports indicate that Tchouaméni threw a punch, causing Valverde to fall and hit his head against a table.
Valverde sustained a severe cut that required stitches and was diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma (head injury). He left the facility in a wheelchair to receive hospital treatment.
Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé to Miss El Clásico
Real Madrid will be without Kylian Mbappé for today’s El Clásico at the Camp Nou. Despite training with teammates as recently as Friday, the French forward was notably absent from the 21-man squad released by Álvaro Arbeloa.
Mbappé is dealing with a left hamstring strain affecting the semitendinosus muscle, which he sustained during a draw against Real Betis on April 24. Although he participated in drills during Saturday’s training session, he reportedly “did not feel good” in his final workout. The club has chosen to err on the side of caution to ensure he is fully fit for France’s upcoming 2026 World Cup campaign in June.
This marks his second consecutive game missed. While he leads the league with 24 goals, Madrid has secured victories in their last six matches without him in the lineup.
