Valverde Out for El Clásico as Tchouameni Returns to Training
Federico Valverde will miss the upcoming El Clásico against Barcelona due to head trauma, sidelining him for a period of 10 to 14 days. His priority now shifts towards fitness as he prepares for Uruguay’s campaign in the 2026 World Cup.
Aurelien Tchouameni, despite recent controversies, is back in training and available for selection against Barcelona. However, persistent rumors regarding Manchester United‘s interest and recent internal tensions have put his position within the squad into the spotlight.
Internal Tensions Rise After Valverde-Tchouameni Altercation
The atmosphere at Real Madrid has become increasingly charged following a physical altercation between midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. This incident has divided the squad and put the club’s leadership under scrutiny as the season reaches its critical stages.
According to reports, tensions escalated after a heavy tackle by Tchouaméni on Valverde during training on Wednesday, May 6. The situation deteriorated on Thursday, May 7, at the Valdebebas training complex.
Valverde allegedly refused to shake Tchouaméni’s hand and accused him of leaking details of their prior dispute to the media.
Following a series of aggressive exchanges during training drills, the conflict moved into the dressing room. It is reported that Tchouaméni threw a punch, which caused Valverde to fall and hit his head on a table edge.
Valverde sustained a serious cut that required stitches and was diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma. He reportedly left in a wheelchair to seek medical attention.
Kylian Mbappé Misses El Clásico Due to Injury
Real Madrid will also be without Kylian Mbappé for today’s El Clásico at Camp Nou. Despite training with his teammates recently, the forward did not make the 21-man squad released by Álvaro Arbeloa.
Mbappé is struggling with a left hamstring strain from the match against Real Betis on April 24. While he participated in drills during Saturday’s training session, reports indicate he “did not feel good” leading into the final practice. The club is exercising caution to ensure he is fully fit ahead of France’s 2026 World Cup preparations.
This marks his second consecutive missed match; however, Madrid has won their last six matches despite his absence, with Mbappé leading the league as the top scorer with 24 goals.
