Manchester United‘s Michael Carrick Earns Premier League Manager of the Season Nomination

Manchester United’s season looked uncertain midway through the campaign, but a dramatic turnaround has pushed the club back into the Champions League places.

Since the managerial change in January, the atmosphere around Old Trafford has shifted completely, with results improving and confidence returning to the squad.

That revival has now brought recognition for the man who guided the turnaround.

Michael Carrick nominated for major award

Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after transforming Manchester United’s campaign in just a few months, as announced on the Premier League website.

The former midfielder took over when United were sitting sixth in the table after Ruben Amorim’s departure in January.

Since then, Carrick has overseen a remarkable run that has lifted the club into third place and secured Champions League football for next season.

His first statement win came in a 2-0 victory over Manchester City, setting the tone for a strong run during the second half of the season.

Carrick’s record since taking charge has been one of the best in the league.

Across 15 league matches, he has won 10, drawn 3 and lost only 2.

United have scored 27 goals and conceded 16 during that period, giving Michael Carrick a goal difference of +11.

That form has placed United at the top of the Premier League form table since his appointment.

Of the club’s 65 points this season, 33 have come under Carrick in just 15 games.

Victories over Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have strengthened his case further.

Carrick’s performances have not gone unnoticed inside the club.

Senior figures are reportedly preparing to recommend him for the permanent role during an executive committee meeting this week.

Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox are both understood to support Carrick’s appointment.

The final decision rests with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who continues to lead football operations under INEOS.

The support also extends to the dressing room.

Amad Diallo has publicly backed Carrick, while reports claim Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire have all told club hierarchy they want him in charge next season.

Even players preparing to leave the club have spoken in support of Carrick.

Casemiro has openly backed the interim boss after the dramatic improvement in results.

This comes after transforming the team’s fortunes in a short space of time.

“In my opinion, he completely deserves it,” Casemiro said.

Carrick is one of six managers nominated for the award.

The shortlist also includes Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, Andoni Iraola, Regis Le Bris and Keith Andrews.

With United ending the campaign strongly, Carrick’s chances of winning the award continue to grow alongside his hopes of landing the role permanently.
