A Cameroonian football club has suspended several players amid allegations of match-fixing. This decision follows Victoria United’s significant 4-1 loss to Aigle Royal de la Menoua on May 10, during matchday 18 of the Elite One league.
The Limbe-based club’s defeat was particularly striking as they had an advantage in player numbers at the time of the match. In response to the outcome, Victoria United expressed a commitment to maintaining the integrity of football and professionalism within the sport, according to local media reports.
The players facing suspension include team captain Nguefack Laurian, vice-captain Bryann Tchana Nana, Osogo Carl Eyong, Agbor Meldin Ashu, Sterly Peto, and goalkeeper Mouelle Yobi Jason. These individuals are prohibited from representing the club in any capacity until the investigation concludes.
