Chelsea Football Club has reportedly reignited its interest in AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan as the team searches for a dependable long-term option between the posts.

La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that Chelsea is closely monitoring the French international following their unsuccessful attempt to secure his signature last summer. At that time, the club declined to meet AC Milan’s £21 million asking price, leading to the collapse of the potential transfer.

Despite recently extending his contract with AC Milan until 2031, Maignan may still reassess his future. Factors influencing his decision could include the club’s performance in securing Champions League qualification, as well as ongoing uncertainties surrounding manager Massimiliano Allegri’s position.

In the current season, Maignan has demonstrated his abilities by keeping 13 clean sheets in 35 Serie A matches.
