Tottenham Faces Potential Departure of Key Players Amid Relegation Threat

Roberto De Zerbi began his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in April. However, since that match, Spurs have found some form, securing two victories and two draws, which has helped lift them out of the relegation zone.

Reviewing the Sunderland match, Conor Gallagher was among several players who underperformed for Tottenham. This continued his disappointing start after arriving from Atletico Madrid for €40 million during the winter transfer window. Shortly after, reports surfaced indicating that Tottenham might look to offload the 26-year-old midfielder.

Gallagher was brought in to fill the void left by the injured Rodrigo Bentancur, who underwent surgery following a hamstring injury against Bournemouth in January. He was expected to inject energy and control into a midfield that had been frequently overrun this season, but the expected impact has yet to materialize.

Everton Eyes Conor Gallagher If Spurs Face Relegation

Interestingly, Gallagher’s performances improved since that Sunderland match. The England international impressed in a 2-1 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this month, scoring a crucial long-range goal in the first half.

Despite his rocky start at Tottenham, Gallagher has attracted interest from clubs. Newly-promoted Coventry City has their eye on the Tottenham midfielder as they work to construct a competitive squad for Premier League survival under manager Frank Lampard. However, they may face competition from a Premier League team for Gallagher’s signature.

According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Everton plans to target Gallagher if Tottenham faces relegation at the season’s end. Manager David Moyes is keen to enhance his midfield options, and Gallagher has been identified as a potential addition.

If Tottenham drops to the Championship, it seems unlikely that Gallagher would remain at White Hart Lane. Consequently, the club might have to consider selling him to mitigate financial concerns, especially given his substantial wages, making him a prime candidate for transfer if the worst-case scenario occurs.

Despite Gallagher’s challenging five months at Hotspur Way, Everton is willing to take a chance on him. Moyes seeks a player who can provide grit and experience in midfield, and Gallagher could fit that requirement perfectly for the Toffees.
