London’s Chelsea Football Club is reportedly close to finalizing an agreement with Xabi Alonso. The 44-year-old manager is expected to be announced as the new head coach after the FA Cup final, which is scheduled for this Saturday, according to talkSPORT.

The club is currently focused on the crucial match at Wembley, but negotiations with Alonso are poised to enter their final stages immediately following the game.

Alonso has reportedly surpassed other candidates on Chelsea’s shortlist, including Marco Silva of Fulham, Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, and Oliver Glasner of Crystal Palace. He has emerged as one of the most in-demand managers since leaving Real Madrid in January.

Although both Liverpool and Newcastle have shown interest in Alonso amid concerns regarding Liverpool’s Arne Slot, it appears Chelsea has successfully secured his services ahead of their rivals.
