A seismic shock has just hit the Italian football landscape. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte has decided to step down as Napoli’s head coach at the end of the current season.
This decision was not taken lightly; Conte informed club president Aurelio De Laurentiis a month ago, allowing management sufficient time to seek a successor as they prepare for the upcoming summer break.
In line with Conte’s pragmatic approach, the separation between him and the club will be handled with respect and financial transparency. Notably, he will not activate the early termination clause in his contract, leaving Napoli without any severance or compensation.
Current Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly agreed to take charge of Napoli.
