Bruno Fernandes Shatters Records as Manchester United’s Star Player

What a season it has turned out to be for Manchester United and their captain, Bruno Fernandes.

The 31-year-old has levelled the record kept by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry for most Premier League assists in one season, and has truly solidified his position as a Red Devils legend.

Bruno Fernandes’s contributions in the 2025/26 campaign have seen him officially awarded the Premier League Player of the Season award, the first Manchester United player to win it since Nemanja Vidic in 2011.

Fernandes joins greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, and Mohamed Salah as some of the best to win the award.

No player in the Premier League created more chances, completed more through balls, came up with more assists, or made more accurate passes into the box than Fernandes in a sensational season for the Portuguese star.

The award isn’t Fernandes’s first personal accolade of the season, after he won the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year at the start of May.

As well as this, Bruno won Manchester United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a fifth time, which cemented his status as a modern great at the club.

Fernandes will be desperate to beat the record for most Premier League assists by a single player in one season on Sunday, as Manchester United visit the AMEX on the final day against Brighton & Hove Albion. He needs just one more to set a new record.

Since his signing from Sporting CP in January 2020, Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation at Manchester United. He goes down as one of the best mid-season signings that The Red Devils have ever made.

While Bruno Fernandes’s Manchester United future has come into question, there is no doubt he will be desperate to make next year even more of a success for his club.
