Manchester United Nears Transfer Deal for Ederson from Atalanta

Manchester United’s summer squad overhaul is gaining momentum as the club targets several midfield players to strengthen its roster under new management with Michael Carrick.

Recent recruitment discussions have accelerated, with negotiations moving into advanced stages for one of their main objectives.

The emphasis is on introducing balance and energy to the midfield.

One long-term target is now closer to making a move to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports Provide Ederson Update

Manchester United is nearing a transfer agreement for Ederson, as talks with Atalanta BC have reportedly entered their final phase, according to Sky Sports.

The deal being discussed is believed to be valued at around £38 million, comprised of a £35 million (€40.5m) guaranteed fee along with £3 million (€3.5m) in performance-related bonuses.

Reports indicate that a full agreement could be reached by the end of the week, with the negotiation process progressing positively among all parties.

Ederson has also taken a significant step toward the transfer, having reportedly agreed on personal terms with Manchester United for a contract that extends until 2031.

This long-term commitment underscores the club’s assessment of him as an essential part of their future, especially as efforts to enhance the midfield continue.

Atalanta’s head coach Raffaele Palladino has publicly commented on the situation, indicating the player is expected to depart.

Following Atalanta’s match against Fiorentina last week, Palladino noted: “It was a decision we agreed with the boy because there’s something going on in the transfer market.”

“The fact that such a player is being followed by such a big club should be a source of pride.”

Should the move go through, it would conclude Ederson’s significant stint in Italy, where he recorded 3 goals and 2 assists across various competitions this season.

If finalized, this transfer would mark the first signing of the Michael Carrick era at Manchester United as the team continues to reshape its midfield options.

Ederson is not the only player under consideration, as United is also monitoring a range of potential additions, including Elliot Anderson, Matheus Fernandes, Aurelien Tchouameni, Carlos Baleba, and Sandro Tonali.

Currently, however, Ederson remains the priority, and indications suggest that Manchester United is moving closer to securing his signature.
