Real Madrid has announced the appointment of José Mourinho as the new head coach. Mourinho is currently in the process of forming his backroom staff as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Details: According to reports from The Athletic, former German international Sami Khedira is set to return to the Santiago Bernabéu as an assistant coach. The 39-year-old retired from professional football in 2021 and will mark his first significant coaching role with this position. Initially, Mourinho considered ex-Real defender Pepe for the role, but ultimately decided on Khedira.

Mourinho aims to bring in trusted personnel to establish a solid structure within the team. The incoming staff will include assistants João Tralhão and Pedro Machado, analyst Roberto Merellu, fitness coach António Dias, and goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos, as confirmed by club executives and coaching staff.

Khedira’s history with Real Madrid is notable, having made 126 appearances, scored 8 goals, and provided 12 assists while playing under Mourinho.
