Sabri Lamouchi has reportedly been sacked from his position as head coach of the Tunisian national football team following a disheartening 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to ESPN journalist Romain Molina, the Tunisian Football Federation has made the decision to part ways with Lamouchi in light of the disappointing result in Group F. This loss has put considerable pressure on Tunisia’s World Cup campaign in the United States.

The team’s performance against Sweden was described as lacklustre, leading to immediate concerns about their prospects in the tournament. While an official announcement from the Tunisian Football Federation is still pending, Molina indicates that Lamouchi’s time as head coach has effectively come to an end, with Mondher Kebaier anticipated to take over the role.
