Bafana Bafana players Themba Zwane and Sphephelo Sithole will only be sidelined for the upcoming clash against Czechia due to a single-match suspension issued by FIFA. This decision comes after both players received red cards during the World Cup’s opening match against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium, where Bafana Bafana lost 2-0.
Initially, there were concerns that the duo would miss both of their remaining Group A fixtures against Czechia and South Korea. However, those concerns have been alleviated, allowing Hugo Broos’ creative force in Zwane to participate in the final match of the group stage.
With Zwane absent for the next match, it is likely that young player Relebohile Mofokeng will be granted a rare opportunity for a World Cup start. Additionally, Thalente Mbatha is expected to step in for Sithole in central midfield alongside Teboho Mokoena.
The match against Czechia is scheduled to take place at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, starting at 6 PM South African time on Thursday.
