Argentina’s match against Algeria has sparked considerable controversy, particularly surrounding an incident involving captain Lionel Messi. Concerns were raised when Messi appeared to evade a sending-off after committing a harsh foul on an Algerian player.

During the intense match, Messi lost possession and executed a studs-up challenge from behind on the Algerian player, who was visibly injured from the impact. A review was initiated by VAR; however, for reasons not disclosed, referee Szymon Marciniak chose not to issue a red card.

As the game progressed to halftime, Argentina held a 1-0 lead, a goal attributed to Messi. Fans and commentators alike are actively debating the referee’s decision and the role of VAR in the incident.
