According to reports from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano on his X social media page, the 24-year-old sustained a severe fracture of both the fibula and tibia during a match against Qatar.
Koné is currently hospitalized, where he is being cared for by his mother as he prepares for the impending surgery. Medical experts have indicated that he will be sidelined for approximately six months.
With his World Cup campaign now cut short, it has been noted that Assim Omer Adibo, the player whose actions led to the injury, visited the dressing room after the match to express his apologies.
